Begin your selected long horse ride Maldives experience and travel along the island towards the sandbank. Depending on the duration selected, spend between one and three hours riding and enjoying the surrounding beach, lagoon, and island scenery.

Return & Buggy Transfer

Complete your Maafushi beach horse ride by returning from the sandbank to the stable area. After the experience, take the complimentary buggy transfer back to your Maafushi guesthouse or Maafushi Jetty.

What is the difference between the 1, 2 and 3-hour options?

The main difference is the amount of riding time. The one-hour option provides an extended alternative to the standard Beach Ride, while the two and three-hour options allow you to spend considerably more time in the saddle. The brochure does not specify separate routes for each duration, so we would not advertise different destinations for each option

Do I need to know how to ride a horse?

No. You do not need any previous horse-riding experience to join. Your Maldives horse riding experience takes place at a relaxed walking pace, and we provide a guide for your booking. Before your ride begins, we will also provide a safety briefing and helmet to help you feel comfortable and prepared.

What horses will I ride?

You will ride one of our gentle Marwari horses. Our rides are conducted at walking pace and are suitable for beginners as well as those with previous riding experience.

Our horses include Gia, a gentle and graceful 8-year-old mare known for her calm and patient temperament, and Sophie, a 7-year-old mare with a spirited, friendly personality who is well-trained.

Where does the experience take place?

Your Maldives horse riding experience takes place on Mantafushi, a small island connected to Maafushi by road. We will collect you by buggy from your Maafushi accommodation or Maafushi Jetty and bring you back after your ride, so you do not need to arrange a boat.

Does the horse enter the lagoon?

Yes. During your ride, you will follow the beach towards the scenic sandbank, where your horse can walk into the shallow turquoise lagoon. The water around the sandbank is approximately knee-deep, making it one of the most scenic parts of your Maafushi horse riding experience and a beautiful setting for photographs.

Is pickup and drop-off included?

Yes. We provide complimentary buggy pickup and drop-off from your accommodation in Maafushi or Maafushi Jetty. The ride location is only around five minutes from Maafushi Jetty, making your horse riding in Maafushi experience easy to reach.

If you are staying at a resort or on another island, you will need to arrange your own transportation to Maafushi, or you can contact us in advance and we can arrange your transfer for an additional fee. Please note that transfers from most resorts and other islands can be expensive, as transportation is usually by private speedboat.

Can children join the horse ride?

Yes. Children can join, with a parent walking alongside them during the ride. We keep the ride at walking pace and provide a guide for every booking, making the experience suitable for families and first-time riders.

What should I wear for the horse ride?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for the tropical weather and footwear that you are comfortable wearing around the beach and shallow water. As your horse may enter the lagoon, we also recommend wearing clothing that you do not mind getting slightly wet.

Which duration should I choose as a beginner?

If you are new to horseback riding but want more than the standard short Beach Ride, the one-hour option may be a practical choice. The two and three-hour options involve considerably more time in the saddle, so you should select the duration you feel comfortable with.

What will I get with the professional camera photos, video, and drone options?

With camera photography, you will receive 20+ professionally edited photos. With camera video, you will receive one edited reel of your ride. If you choose drone coverage, you will receive 10–15 aerial photos and a short drone reel capturing your Maldives horse riding experience from above.

Can I take photos using my own phone?

Yes. If you prefer to use your own phone, our guide can take photos of you during the experience at no additional charge. This is a great option if you would like simple memories of your Maldives horse riding experience without adding a professional media package.

How and when will I receive my professional photos and videos?

We will deliver your edited professional photos and videos digitally within 4–6 days. You will receive a private gallery link that you can access and download from any device.

What is the cancellation policy?

If your participation date is more than two weeks away, your booking is partially refundable. If your participation date is less than two weeks away, your booking is non-refundable.
